Almost everyone yearns for a huge mansion that resembles the pinnacle of luxury. But, don’t underestimate small spaces. Not only do you not have to worry about cleaning it a lot, but it gives off a cozy look that’s hard to achieve with huge spaces. Many people simply believe that it’s almost impossible to decorate small apartments or even independent houses, but the truth is that you can make your small space stand out if you put in the effort. At Masterpiece Interiors, we love decorating small spaces that show off the personality of the home owner. So, let’s take a look at small space tips for your home interiors. 1) Lighting Lighting is your best friend, especially if own a small space. Even if your bedroom or living room measures only 250-300 sq ft, you can make it dazzle. And, speaking of dazzling, what better way to do it other than installing colorful lighting? Using regular lamps and shades is okay, but you can also take it up a notch by introducing rice lights. Inexpensive and easy to use, the best part is that they last a long time. Depending on your mood and the type of ambiance you want to set, choosing different types of lighting can actually make your small room look bigger. 2) Colors Many people assume that using dark colors complement small spaces, but that’s just not true. You’ll be amazed by how lighter colors make your small space look inviting. Pastel colors is my favorite, especially if you’re struggling with small spaces with no room. 3) Furniture Remember that you can decorate small spaces by using furniture that matches the color of the walls. For instance, if your walls are a beautiful pastel, use furniture that’s either cream or brown resembling wood. Also, use smaller furniture that’s elegant yet serves the purpose. Big sofas take up a lot of space and don’t look good. They add to the clutter and you’ll end up with a small room and one big sofa that makes it impossible to navigate. Coming to the bedroom, you can optimize space by using beds that allow you to store stuff on the underside of the bed. First off, purchase smaller beds, and secondly, use beds that can be moved pretty easily. Some apartment owners use bunk beds and decorate them with lighting to make their small space look catchy and beautiful. Think smart and use furniture that reduces space even in the living room. A big coffee table that takes up all the space? Nah, that’s not necessary. Instead, go for coffee tables that allows you to store something in it. Or maybe something that acts as an accessory and complements the look. Also, use smaller dining tables that take up less space. Look for something that allows the chairs to be moved under it when the dining table isn’t being used. 4) Replace doors So, you have a small apartment with 3 rooms? I bet they all look cramped and stuffed because they are divided into so many rooms. If that’s the case, simply open up your space by reducing the number of rooms. Of course, you can renovate your entire home for that, but that’s not necessary.
If you want to reduce the number of rooms, replace the doors with see-through material like frosted glass. This not only increases light and makes the space brighter, but it’s also open up your home and make it look visibly larger. 5) Get rid of all the clutter Most small spaces look cluttered only because they are stuffed with many things that are not necessary. Before designing your home, look for things that don’t serve their purpose. Even if you’re hoarding things you don’t use because you’re emotionally attached to them, it’s the first step you should take to get rid of all the unwanted clutter before decorating your space. There’s no point in storing things that don’t function anymore. Get rid of them! 6) Mirrors If you use the right colors and the right lighting, using mirrors will enhance the look like you’ve never imagined. A well-placed mirror can do wonders because it reflects the light and makes the room airy and far more larger. At the end of the day, owning a small space shouldn’t make you think that it’s not possible to decorate it. Honestly, you can make it appear far better than a large room. Just make sure that your personality shows off on your small space, no matter how tiny it is. Not many people want to live in small spaces, but it produces such warmth and coziness if done right that you’ll never want to leave! At Masterpiece Interiors, as one of the best interior designers in Bangalore, space is certainly not a problem, so do give us a call even if you own a small space!
